VPN subscription link: what it is, how it works and why it beats config files

What a VPN subscription link is, why it beats config files, how to add it to Happ, Streisand, v2RayTun and FlClashX, and what to do if servers disappear.

When you first open the Surok bot, it doesn't send an archive of config files and a three-screen manual. It gives you one link and an "Add to app" button. That link is called a subscription, and it's what makes a modern VPN more convenient than the old OpenVPN files. Here's what's inside, how to use it and what to do when the servers "disappear".

Quick fix. Surok has one subscription link for all servers: Germany, Estonia, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, the US, Canada and the "Europe · auto" profile. It's added to Happ, Streisand, v2RayTun, FlClashX or the Surok app with one button, and the server list refreshes itself every time the app opens. 3 days free, then from 220 ₽ a month.

What a subscription is, in plain words

A subscription link is an address from which the VPN app fetches the current list of your servers by itself. Not a file sitting on the phone and going stale, but a source the app checks every time it opens.

Surok's link holds all the servers of your plan at once: exits in Europe and the US, the "Europe · auto" profile and the VLESS + Reality + XHTTP settings. The app gets it in one request and shows a list of countries to pick from.

Why a subscription beats manual configs

With manual configs, as soon as the server changes the file turns into a pumpkin. With a subscription it's different.

  • Added once. The link goes into the app during the first setup, and you never come back to it.
  • Servers update themselves. If Surok adds a country, moves a server or changes parameters, the app picks it up next time it opens. No "download the new config in the bot".
  • All servers in one place. Instead of a file per country, one list where Germany, Poland and the US switch with a single tap.
  • One link for all devices. The same subscription goes on the phone, laptop and TV. How many can work at once depends on the plan, see how many devices.

How to add the subscription to an app

The simplest way is the button in the bot or the cabinet. Tap "Add to app", the phone opens the installed client and the subscription appears in the list. Nothing to copy.

If that didn't work or you're setting up a laptop, paste it by hand: copy the link in the cabinet, open the app, find the add-subscription option and paste.

  • Happ. Add a subscription and paste the link. Details in how to set up Happ.
  • Streisand. Copy the link, then add it from the clipboard. Step by step in Streisand on iPhone.
  • v2RayTun. Import from the clipboard or add a subscription. Common errors in v2RayTun setup and errors.
  • FlClashX or Prizrak-Box (Linux). Add a profile by URL and paste the link.
  • Surok's own apps (Android, Windows, macOS). No link needed: sign in via Telegram or email, and the subscription connects itself. Download on the downloads page.

The subscription link is the key to your account. Anyone who knows it can add your servers to their app and use your plan. So:

  • Don't post the link in chats, screenshots or "help me set it up" comments. If you need help, write to support and hide the link on the screenshot.
  • Don't hand the link to friends "to try". Their devices take slots in your plan and you get the limit error. For friends there's Invite a friend, where both of you get days.

If the servers "disappeared"

The classic: it worked yesterday, today the list is empty or the servers won't connect. Most often Surok updated the servers and the app hasn't fetched the new list yet. In order:

  1. Reopen the app. Close it fully (swipe it away from recent apps) and launch again. On launch the app requests the subscription, and the new servers appear.
  2. Refresh the subscription by hand. Clients have a refresh action next to the subscription. Use it and the list reloads.
  3. Check the device limit. If the app says "Device limit for your plan reached", the servers aren't the problem: unlink an extra device in the cabinet under Devices.

After any of these, check the result on the IP check page: a foreign address means everything works.

How often the subscription refreshes

The app refreshes the server list every time you open it. For most people that's enough: the phone restarts the client several times a day, and Surok's changes are picked up on their own.

Some clients also have an auto-refresh interval setting. Turn it on if you keep the VPN on permanently and rarely open the app; very frequent makes no sense, Surok doesn't change servers every hour.

FAQ

What is a subscription link? An address from which the VPN app fetches the current list of your servers by itself. Added once, refreshed every time the app opens.

Can I paste one link into several apps? Yes, but each app takes a slot in the plan as a separate device.

The servers disappeared, what do I do? Fully close and reopen the app. If that didn't help, refresh the subscription by hand.

In short

A subscription link is one link for all Surok servers that you add to the app once and that refreshes itself afterwards. Don't show it to others, and if the servers disappear, reopen the app or refresh the subscription by hand. 3 days free to see how much simpler it is than configs.
