VPN for your TV: Android TV and Apple TV without router tricks
How to connect Surok VPN on a TV: Happ for Android TV and Apple TV, adding the subscription by QR code from your phone, choosing a server with the remote and YouTube without throttling.
A VPN on the TV used to mean flashing your router. Now an app from the TV's store and a QR code from your phone are enough.
Android TV and Google TV
- In the TV's app store find Happ and install it. Links and a guide are on the "Download for Android TV" page.
- Open Happ and choose adding by QR code.
- On your phone open your account, the "Connection" tab, expand "Diving in from another device", the QR code is there.
- Point the TV's camera at it or, if it has none, scan the code with your phone following the app's hint.
- Pick a server with the remote and connect.
Apple TV
Happ for Apple TV is in the App Store. Then it's the same: QR code from your account, server, button. Apple TV asks permission for the VPN configuration once.
What starts working
YouTube in full quality, streaming services that don't open from Russia and apps that check your country. Pick the exit for the service: some need a specific country rather than "Europe · auto".
Devices and the plan
The TV counts as a separate device. If your plan has one and the phone is already connected, unlink an extra one in the "Devices" tab or take a two-device plan, the difference is small.
Won't connect
- Check that the TV has internet without the VPN.
- Switch the server to a backup one.
- Delete the subscription in Happ and add it again with a new QR code.
- Write to support and mention the TV model.
