VPN for PUBG Mobile and PUBG on PC in Russia (2026): lower ping, change region, avoid bans
Why you'd want a VPN for PUBG Mobile and PUBG on PC, when it lowers ping and when it raises it, how to change region and get early events, whether PUBG works in Russia without a VPN, and how not to get banned. Setup on Android, iPhone and PC.
"VPN for PUBG" is searched almost five thousand times a month in Russia, mostly for PUBG Mobile. The game itself isn't blocked in Russia and runs without workarounds, so a VPN here isn't about access but about ping, region, events and updates. Here's when a VPN helps in PUBG, when it hurts, and how to set it up without catching a ban.
Quick fix. Surok gives exits in Germany, Poland and Estonia with 40–60 ms ping from European Russia, carries UDP and leaves Russian sites alone. Three days free, then from 220 ₽ a month.
Does PUBG work in Russia without a VPN?
Yes. PUBG Mobile is available in Google Play and the App Store, the European and Asian servers respond, and PUBG: Battlegrounds launches in Steam. In-game payments with Russian cards haven't worked since 2022, but that's a store restriction, not the game's. So if PUBG "isn't working", check your connection and server status first rather than hunting for a VPN.
Then why a VPN?
Ping. From Russia to PUBG Mobile's European servers carrier routes sometimes take a detour and ping jumps to 120–200 ms. Through a tunnel with a German exit the path is straighter and ping returns to 50–70 ms. It doesn't always work: if your carrier already gives 45 ms, a VPN adds 5–10 ms on top. Test it: the lobby shows ping in the top right corner.
Region and events. Some events, skins and test modes release earlier in other regions. With a VPN you can download another region's version and play there.
Updates. Big patches sometimes download for hours from Russia: the CDN serves them slowly. Through a VPN downloads are often several times faster.
Discord for the squad. Discord is blocked in Russia, so for squad voice you need a VPN anyway; see VPN for Discord.
How not to get banned
Krafton doesn't ban for a VPN as such, but the rules have limits:
- Don't flip account region back and forth to farm rewards: that's a violation and the account can be restricted.
- Don't buy UC through a VPN in cheap regions: such purchases get reversed and the account flagged.
- Don't play on a VPN that hops countries mid-match: anti-cheat sees the IP change and may kick you.
Stick to one country and play fair, and there's no risk.
Setup on Android
- Install the Surok app from the site; it's an APK, works on Huawei too.
- Choose Germany or Poland, tap Connect.
- Launch PUBG Mobile and check the ping in the lobby. Compare with the ping without the VPN.
- If the VPN won't connect on mobile data, choose the "Europe · auto" profile: it passes carrier whitelists.
Setup on iPhone
Surok on iPhone runs through Happ or Streisand with a foreign Apple ID, guide in VPN for iPhone. Add the subscription, choose Germany, turn the VPN on before launching the game.
Setup on PC
The Surok apps for Windows and Mac turn the VPN on system-wide: Steam, PUBG and Discord go through the tunnel, Gosuslugi and banks go direct. For PUBG: Battlegrounds in Steam choose an exit close to the server Steam shows in its region settings.
FAQ
Will a free VPN do for PUBG? The game needs stable UDP and even ping; free services give neither. Surok's three days are free, so you can compare ping.
Does a VPN raise FPS? No, FPS depends on the phone. A VPN affects only network latency.
Which country is best for Europe? Germany or Poland. For Asian servers a VPN from Russia usually doesn't help: the path is long either way.
In short
PUBG works in Russia without a VPN; a VPN is for ping, region and fast updates. Surok with a German exit gives 40–60 ms, carries UDP and leaves Russian sites alone. Keep one country and don't farm rewards by switching regions, and there's no ban. Three days free.
