VPN for iPhone and iPad: set up in a minute without an App Store from another country

How to connect Surok VPN on iPhone via the Happ app from the Russian App Store: sign-in, adding the subscription with one button, choosing a server and what to do if it won't connect.

Publishing your own VPN app on iPhone is harder than on Android, so Surok works through the trusted Happ app. It's available in the Russian App Store, no need to change your account region. Our own iOS app is in development.

Step 1. Install Happ

Open the App Store and search for Happ, or follow the link from the "Download for iPhone" page. The app is free.

Step 2. Add the subscription

Sign in to your account from your phone, open the "Connection" tab and press "Add subscription to Happ". Happ opens and fetches the server list itself. Nothing to copy.

If a computer is more convenient, there's a QR code there too: press "+" in Happ and scan it.

Step 3. Connect

Pick a server, usually "Europe · auto", and press the button. iOS asks once for permission to add a VPN configuration and possibly your unlock code. That's a system dialog, it appears with any VPN.

Server updates

Happ refreshes the list every hour by itself. If a new exit is added or the entry method changes, you don't need to do anything.

Won't connect

  • Switch the server to "Europe · auto" if you're on mobile internet.
  • Check the subscription term in your account.
  • Delete the subscription in Happ and add it again from your account.
  • Write to support and mention your carrier.

Other apps

Streisand, v2RayTun and Shadowrocket work too: all of them are in the catalogue. The subscription is added the same way, from your account.
