Does Tinder work in Russia in 2026? How to log in and sign up with a VPN

Tinder left Russia in summer 2023. Does it work in 2026, does the site open, why registration with a Russian number fails, which VPN you need and what happens with geolocation.

Tinder isn't blocked by Roskomnadzor: Match Group left Russia on its own and closed access for Russian users by 30 June 2023. The app vanished from the Russian App Store and Google Play, and old accounts stopped opening. In 2026 Tinder from Russia is still possible, with caveats: you need a VPN, a non-Russian phone number and an understanding that geolocation will reveal your real city.

Quick fix. Surok gives a stable address in Europe that gets Tinder open on both iPhone and Android. Three days free, then from 220 ₽ a month.

What happened to Tinder in Russia

In May 2023 Match Group announced it was leaving the Russian market, and on 30 June it shut the service down: removed the apps from the stores, disabled paid features and login for accounts tied to Russia. There's no formal block; as of 14 October 2026, tinder.com opens from Russia without a VPN. But that's just the cover: login and registration hit a country check.

What Tinder checks

  • IP address. From a Russian address Tinder allows neither login nor sign-up. This is what a VPN changes.
  • Phone number. Registration with a Russian (+7) number fails. You need a number from another country, or sign-in via Apple, Google or Facebook with an account not tied to Russia.
  • Store region. The app isn't in the Russian App Store or Google Play. On iPhone you need an Apple ID from another country; on Android you can install an APK.
  • Geolocation. Tinder shows people near you by GPS, not by IP. Through a VPN you'll get into the app, but the profiles will be from your real city, which is fine: plenty of Russian users came the same way.

How to get into Tinder with a VPN

  1. Turn on a VPN with a European exit. In Surok, "Europe · auto" or a specific country works.
  2. On Android install Tinder as an APK from a trusted source, or use the website. On iPhone install the app from another country's App Store; changing the Apple ID region is described in App Store not working.
  3. Sign up via Google or Apple ID rather than a phone number. If a number is required, it must be foreign: Tinder usually rejects virtual SMS numbers.
  4. Turn the VPN on before launching Tinder and keep it on for the whole session. Dropping the VPN mid-session gets the account flagged for "suspicious activity".

If Tinder still refuses you, check on the IP page that the address really is foreign and that no second VPN or proxy is running.

Geolocation and Passport

The Passport feature in paid plans lets you "move" to any city and browse profiles there. Paying requires a foreign card; Russian ones are declined. Without Passport, Tinder shows people nearby by GPS, i.e. in your city. We don't recommend spoofing GPS: Tinder detects fake coordinates and bans the account.

Yes. Using a VPN isn't banned in Russia and there are no fines for citizens, see is VPN banned in Russia. But bypassing regional restrictions may violate Tinder's own rules, and the account can be banned without explanation.

FAQ

Is Tinder banned in Russia? No, it left on its own in June 2023. The site opens, but you can't log in without a VPN.

Can I recover an old account? If it was tied to a Russian number, usually not. Accounts via Google or Apple ID sometimes open through a VPN.

Which VPN for Tinder? One with a stable foreign address and no leaks. Tinder usually detects free VPNs and refuses them.

Will I see profiles from my city? Yes, Tinder uses GPS. Through a VPN you'll log in but see people nearby.

In short

Tinder from Russia in 2026 works only through a VPN and with a non-Russian sign-up method. Turn on Surok, sign in via Google or Apple ID and keep the VPN on during the session. Three days free.
