Snapchat won't open, send snaps or load stories. When and why Roskomnadzor blocked Snapchat and FaceTime, and what you need to make the app work again.

On 4 December 2025 Roskomnadzor announced it had restricted Snapchat; the block had actually been in force since 10 October 2025. FaceTime was blocked at the same time.
To use it: turn on a VPN, fully restart Snapchat, use a mobile-data profile ("Europe · auto" in Surok), and stick to one country. On iPhone, an installed app keeps working through a VPN; installing or updating needs an Apple ID from another country. If it still fails, check your IP, turn off a second VPN, change server and update the app. FaceTime calls work through a VPN that carries UDP.
