Surok in your browser: 7 days free, no sign-up
The Surok VPN extension for Chrome, Yandex Browser and Firefox now has a “Try for free” button: a week without an email, password or card. What the free mode includes, where its limits are and how to remove them.
Until now Surok's extension greeted you with a login screen: create an account, confirm it, then the burrow. Fair, but dull, and the numbers showed that many people turned around right there. Starting with version 1.1.6 there is no threshold: install the extension, press one button, and websites open.
What the free mode gives you
- Seven days from the first click. No email, password or card: Surok remembers your browser on its own.
- Speed up to 3 Mbit/s. Enough for websites, messengers, music and 480p video. The cap is shown right in the extension window, so there are no surprises.
- The “All Europe” exit. Surok picks the fastest European server itself. Other countries are shown with a lock.
- Up to 10 GB of traffic a month. Plenty for a browser, useless for torrents, and that is on purpose.
- Everything else is the same as for subscribers: Russian sites go direct, your own site rules, WebRTC leak protection, server-side ad blocking.
How to turn it on
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store (works for Chrome, Yandex Browser and Edge) or from Firefox Add-ons.
- Click the marmot on the browser toolbar, then “Try for free”.
- Press the big button. That's it.
If the extension was already installed, the store will update it on its own within a couple of days. While the previous version is still in the store, the button may not be there yet, which is normal.
What happens after seven days
Surok stops and offers a subscription. It removes the speed cap, unlocks all nine countries, allows several devices and lifts the traffic limit. You can pay right in the extension window: SBP, card, cryptocurrency, Telegram Stars, and from abroad a card via Stripe. After paying, the window offers to attach an email so you can sign in to the same account on your phone and computer.
If you don't need a subscription, you pay nothing: the free mode never asks for a card and never charges.
Why this way
We don't want a free VPN that lives off ads and selling data. The free week is a way to check that Surok opens the sites you need, not a separate product. The speed cap is shown honestly, the traffic limit keeps out those who would like to pull terabytes through us, and a subscription starts at 220 ₽ a month.
